DENTAL SERVICES

Dental Services are offered at the Cornelius Center. In McMinnville, dental services are provided one day a week at the Head Start program through a mobile dental unit.

Goals
· Prevent the incidence of dental caries in primary and permanent teeth Starting with prenatal counseling, preventative measures include Baby Day education classes, varnish services in the primary care clinics, referrals from primary care well child check appointments, outreach and education to schools and migrant farm worker sites and a sealant program.
· Prevent untreated dental decay in children, adolescents and adults Through referrals from the primary care clinics, local Head Start offices and other community sources, the dental division starts the restorative steps necessary to retain healthy teeth.
· Prevent periodontal disease By educating patients in proper daily health care and the avoidance of tobacco use, the aim is to prevent the incidence of precursor conditions such as gingivitis.

VISION SERVICES

Pacific University College of Optometry operates a vision clinic in VGMHC’s Dental/Vision Facility in Cornelius. Functioning as a learning laboratory for students, it offers vision screening and eye care, and glasses at reduced prices to patients.
