Fifth Annual Health Care Symposium
Over 300 people joined Virginia Garcia for our Fifth Annual Health Care Symposium. Regional experts and leaders from Stanford University’s Clinical Excellence Research Center (CERC) examined methods of health care innovation that lower costs and improve patient outcomes. The panel was led by Dr. Arnold Milstein, Professor of Medicine at Stanford University and Director of CERC.

Cornelius Wellness Center Ribbon Cutting
Over 400 people joined us to celebrate the grand opening of the Cornelius Wellness Center. The event featured Representative Suzanne Bonamici, music, tours of the new facility, zumba, physical therapy and cooking demonstrations. Designed to promote wellness, the new facility includes a commercial teaching kitchen, group visit space, public greenways, community gardens and exercise space.

Held at the new Cornelius Wellness Center, the Fifth Annual Health & Resource Fair brought together multiple community agencies to provide health screenings, resource information and education to the community. Event highlights included: health, vision and dental screenings, nutrition education, children's activities, music and dancing.

Walk for Wellness
To celebrate the grand opening of the new Cornelius Wellness Center the Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation held their first ever Walk for Wellness. Over 300 people joined us for a two mile walk through the community of Cornelius. Funds raised through the walk are being used to support Virginia Garcia’s Wellness Program.

Uncorked: Oregon Wine and Art Auction
Over 250 people joined us for a night of live music, delicious local wines, exquisite cuisine and spectacular auction packages at Methven Family Vineyards. The event benefits the Rotary Club of McMinnville Foundations Charities, the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation and Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation.

Fourth Annual Health Care Symposium: The Social Determinants of Health--from Theory to Practice
On May 1, 2012, Virginia Garcia hosted its fourth annual Health Care Symposium, bringing together health care leaders from across the region to discuss the most pressing health care issues of our time and how they're impacting Oregonians. This year's Symposium will address human wellness using the social determinants of health framework. The theory explores an entire spectrum of life experiences including employment, education, housing, food and mental health care, along with a regular health care home and how they contribute to a person's health. Our panel of experts from these fields will discuss how they are taking this theory and putting it into practice.

Virginia Garcia and the Portland Timbers hosted Happy Hour at Trébol. Ten percent of the evenings net proceeds benefited Virginia Garcia. The Portland Timbers Diego Chara (#21) joined us for photos and autographs.

Guests at Portland’s famous Genoa and Accanto Restaurants enjoyed an evening of an unmatched dining experience, all benefitting Virginia Garcia.
While guests enjoyed an evening of great food and wine, they supported local farmworkers and helped to provide them with the healthcare services they need. 15% of sales went to support Virginia Garcia’s migrant outreach program.
