Through the Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation, a number of events are offered throughout the year to help raise money and awareness for the programs and services of the Health Center.

The evening will feature Master of Ceremonies Rob Smith, editor of the Portland Business Journal, and keynote speaker Mike Scogna, former Fortune 300 executive and professional speaker, who has helped people in over 40 countries develop "Transformational Leadership."

Virginia Garcia's Health Care Symposium Proves Timely
The second annual Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation Health Care Symposium, held on April 7th, came just two weeks after the landmark health care reform legislation became law. The timing couldn’t have been better. Symposium presenters and audience members had the opportunity to analyze what health care reform means for the country, and more specifically for Oregon.

Senator Jeff Merkley opened the program by saying he felt privileged to be a part of the battle to pass health care reform legislation. “This bill takes us from the philosophy of access to health care as a privilege, closer to health care as a right of citizenship in a healthy society,” said Merkley.

He addressed the loss of jobs in Oregon with nearly 20% of the workforce unemployed and the impact that is having on safety net clinics like Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center. “Virginia Garcia is the front door to health care for so many of our citizens,” said Merkley.

VG Behind the Scenes, An Oral History of Virginia Garcia
More than 80 attendees heard about the founding of Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center first hand from Virginia Garcia’s leaders, past and present, and enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the Cornelius Clinic.

Virginia Garcia's Health and Wellness Fair
More than 40 agencies delivered health, dental and vision screenings to 300 fair attendees, free of charge, along with resource information from a variety of community organizations. Fair attendees also enjoyed lively music and snowcones.

Uncorked: The Oregon Wine & Art Auction
Almost 300 people enjoyed first class entertainment, tasted Willamette Valley wines poured by the vintners themselves and bid on special wine and art packages in the beautiful setting of Methven Family Vineyards. This event benefits Virginia Garcia, Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation and the Rotary Club of McMinnville charities.

Genoa and Accanto: Healthy Hands, Healthy Harvest Partnership
Guests at Portland’s famous Genoa and Accanto Restaurants enjoyed an evening of an unmatched dining experience, all benefitting Virginia Garcia.
While guests enjoyed an evening of great food and wine, they supported local farmworkers and helped to provide them with the healthcare services they need. 15% of sales went to support Virginia Garcia’s migrant outreach program.
