Statistics & Patient Demographics
Although 64% of our patients are Hispanic, Virginia Garcia clients come from all walks of life. Many face challenges that can be barriers to health and wellness:
- 68% of our patients are at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level, which translates to earning $20,500 a year for a family of four.
- Nearly half of our patients lack insurance (48%), and
- 63% are best served in a language other than English including: Spanish, Somali, Cambodian, Cantonese, Farsi, Russian, and Vietnamese, to name just a few. Where we do not have a staff member available who speaks a patient’s language, we employ an interpreter.
The only federally qualified health center in Washington and Yamhill Counties, Virginia Garcia is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Our funding comes from a variety of sources including federal, state and governmental grants, private foundations, United Way donations, individual and corporate contributions, and patient fees.
As a federally qualified health care center, no one is turned away for an inability to pay, and services are provided on a sliding scale based upon patient income.
