Statistics & Patient Demographics
Although 63% of our patients are Hispanic, Virginia Garcia clients come from all walks of life. Many face challenges that can be barriers to health and wellness:
- 80% of our patients are at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level, which translates to earning $22,050 a year for a family of four.
- Nearly half of our patients lack insurance (46%).
- 60 languages are spoken in our clinics and 61% of patients are best served in a language other than English.
- 48% of our patients are 18 years of age or younger.
- 18% of our patients are migrant or seasonal farmworkers.
Funding comes from a variety of sources including patient fees, private and public insurance, county, federal and state grants, private and corporate foundations, businesses and corporations, United Way, and individual donors.
Federally Qualified Health Centers exist to ensure that high-quality affordable health care is available to underserved communities facing economic, social and cultural barriers that impede access to care.
At Virginia Garcia, services are provided on a sliding-scale basis and no one is turned away for an inability to pay.
