40 Under 40 Award

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Evan Saulino of our Hillsboro clinic for being chosen by the Portland Business Journal for its prestigious 40 Under 40 award.

The Portland Business Journal annually recognizes 40 citizens under the age of 40 for their professional and personal accomplishments. The awards are chosen based upon three criteria: professional accomplishment, community involvement and professional recognition. There were over 200 applicants nominated because of their extraordinary work within the Portland metropolitan community.

“Americans used to take it on faith that the U.S. health care system was the best in the world. Today, growing evidence indicates that the system is failing,” says Dr. Saulino. To address the flaws in the system, Dr. Saulino has worked with Gov. John Kitzhaber’s Archimedes Movement (WeCanDoBetter.org) and state Sens. Alan Bates, D-Ashland, and Ben Westlund, D-Tumelo, to provide a comprehensive solution for Oregon’s failing health care system.

When asked by the Portland Business Journal what the most difficult decision has been so far in his career, Dr. Saulino responded, “the decision to leave academic biotechnology research and instead pursue a career in family medicine was very difficult.” Here at Virginia Garcia, we are so thankful you made the decision you did. We know the choice of working as a family physician has made it possible for so many patients to receive the quality health care they deserve.
