The Virginia Garcia Pharmacy is located in the Cornelius Center. It is located in a separate building directly behind the Cornelius Primary care Clinic. This pharmacy opened in August of 2003 and currently has 3 pharmacists and 4 pharmacy techs.

The pharmacy serves as a central pharmacy for the other VGMHC sites. Prescriptions written at the other sites are faxed in to the Cornelius Pharmacy where they are filled and couriered twice daily to the individual sites. A pharmacy assistant at each site manages the receipt of medications and facilitates the pick-up and consultation for the patient. The pharmacy assistant also manages the application and receipt of medications through the various pharmacy assistance programs that are accessed on behalf of the patients.

The Pharmacy now manages accessing medications through the myriad of Indigent Medicine Assistance programs. The Center’s Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee meets monthly to decide on formulary changes and develop ways that the pharmacy can participate in the Center’s chronic disease management programs.
